Shaggy Domestic Shorthair Young Male for sale in Arlington, Washington

Shaggy's story
Shaggy and his siblings, Fred and Daphne, were behind a dumpster in Eastern Washington in 2017 when they were about five weeks ago. The kittens were underweight and required syringe feeding and intensive care for the first few weeks, which they received in an exceptional foster home. All three kittens were born with eyelid agenisis, which is a congenital disorder in which the eyelid doesn't form properly during development. At 3 months old, they traveled over the mountains to Purrfect Pals for specialized surgery and continued care.
Shaggy is a cute, adorkable, silver-gray and white boy with enormous ears, a loving heart and a beautiful spirit. He's closely bonded with Fred and needs a home with him where they can play, cuddle, chase each other about, luxuriate in sun puddles and just be cats. Shaggy's been through a lot in his short life and has met every challenge with aplomb. Now it's time for him to have a normal life in a calm, relaxed home full of love. Shaggy is the more independent, laid-back of the brothers, and loves to hang out on cat trees or window perches but will seek out a warm lap for cuddles.
While rare, eyelid agenisis is the most common congenital eyelid disorder found in cats. With agenisis, there is no eyelid margin with protective eyelashes, which means the fur on the skin around the eye can rub against the delicate cornea and cause ulceration, pain and blindness. Without a full eyelid, the eye is left exposed to debris from the environment, rubbing, and tears will not be able to properly spread across the eyeball. Shaggy has had several surgeries to create a margin around his eye and remove the irritating fur. He will need eye drops (OTC lubricant) twice a day for the rest of his life. He also as some congenital retinal issues and has limited vision. Of course, this hasn't stopped him from being a playful, bouncy boy.
Shaggy and Fred are looking for a safe, forever home together. They are each other's closest friends, support, and playmates who are constantly together. A tiny bit shy, they would thrive in a slower paced home without a lot of surprises. With their limited vision, they would probably be best in a home without small, fast-moving children. Shaggy and Fried lived with cat friendly dogs in foster care and have generally been fine with other cats in our adoption room. These special boys are going to bring a ton of love and joy to their people!
Like all Purrfect Pals cats, Shaggy has been viral tested, neutered, microchipped and is current on vaccines. This kitty is currently in our Arlington sanctuary and adoption center (230 McRae Rd NE, Arlington, WA 98223). To learn more, please email us at adopt@purrfectpals.org.
